Take action!

Join with the thousands of people who have objected to the proposed coal-fired power station at Kingsnorth, and say no to new coal power. Campaigners in Europe and the USA have been successful in resisting new coal power, now you can help stop the UK from making the mistake of going for coal.

Act now!

Respond to the Government's energy announcement and stop dirty coal!  The government announced today that they will not rule out new dirty coal in the IK. New coal power stations will be allowed to go ahead with only a fraction of their emissions subject to carbon capture and storage (CCS), a technology which is still unproven in this context. Tell Ed Milliband that this isn't good enough.

stop new coal power

Help Hunterston go the way of Kingsnorth. While plans for a new 1.6GW coal-fired power station at Kingsnorth in Kent were shelved recently, a power station of a similar size is proposed at Hunterston in Ayrshire. If it goes ahead, the greenhouse gas emissions from this plant alone will be seven times that of the whole of Malawi.  Write to your MSP telling them to scrap plans for new dirty coal-fired power stations in Scotland.

stop new coal powerSupport the campaign: make a donation to the World Development Movement (who host this site) or one of the other organisations fighting climate change. E.ON and the other power companies have millions to spend on greenwash advertising so any donation can help.

No new coal: stop Kingsnorth and a new generation of dirty power website created and hosted by the World Development Movement (WDM) as part of it's climate campaign work. The posts on this site represent the views of the contributors and not necessarily of WDM.
